A New Day, A New Era for Yorkdale Mall

After a number of months of hard work, it's finally done. Yorkdale mall has finally finished their expansion project on the mall. On Friday, November 16, 2012 (about a week ago) the expansion project of Yorkdale mall was finally revealed for the world to see. There are many new features to look out for  the next time you visit this mall. Christmas is around the corner, so this would be the perfect time to do so. For one, it has added 145,000-square feet of space and 800 million more parking spots. There are 27 new stores and a high-end food court. The new-look mall is also home to five upscale stores that are making their debut in Canada: Microsoft, Tesla Motors, Ted Baker London, Kate Spade and Ann Taylor Loft. With these stores making their debut in Canada, these businesses are looking to expand outside their border to not only make more money, but be well known internationally. Canada is the perfect place to do so. If there's anything this mall needed to upgrade, it was their food court. This $220-million expansion also unveiled their new food court, "Dine on 3." This major upgrade draws a lot of comparisons to Eatons' food court "Urban Eatery" in terms of quality, looks, and accommodations. For more details and information about Dine on 3, click on the link below to find out.:

With both upgraded in Eatons and Yorkdale mall respectively, competition between the two is sure to pick up. Before Eatons was the mall to attract tourist and new comers to the city. Now with the new upgrade of Yorkdale mall, either one of the two wouldn't be bad. This upgrade also means competition between the two malls as they both have luxurious, high-profile stores that attracts a lot of customers. Either way, the city of Toronto now has another legitimate destination for all shopaholics to go to. I for one is most definitely planning on visiting the "new Yorkdale mall."

This is a few visuals of what the expansion Yorkdale mall has to offer. Do you think this was a good and well-needed investment? Or do you think this was just a useless investment and costing them money? Comment below to let me know how you think this mall is or if you have personally seen the new renovations.

  1. Damn, son. Yorkdale is turning into a serious contender when it comes to the Canadian market. Toronto is one of the top cities in the world and has a good tourism base. When people think about Toronto Mall its all about the Eaton Center, but at the rate Yorkdale is progressing it will force people to change their minds. Ima go hit up York dale now PEACE!

  2. Seems they continue to add "high-end" stores...where only people like John Carlo and Ankush can shop...

But definitely increasingly becoming a great tourist desitination and though it will never match Eaton Centre in size, Yorkdale is surely a contender for the top stop to shop in the GTA.

  4. Yorkdale mall is a contender for the best mall in the country. I mean it has 800 million more parking lots and 145,000 more square feet. Yorkdale mall might soon be better than the Eaton Center.

  5. WOW, that's beautiful:) I think this upgrade was needed. I think it is gonna benefit the GTA in more ways than one. I bet profit is going to increase as well as retail stores. The number of tourists coming into Canada would also increase. Like when you go to the US there are numerous number of well known malls. Whereas in Canada it was like the Eaton center, and maybe Edmonton mall. This is great news for Canada now if only they had some more discounts and sales, like the U.S.

  6. Awesome looking mall to be honest, I'd rather go there than Eaton cause of the new stores like Microsoft. The profit for sure will increase and with the Christmas holiday coming up people are sure to go to a newer and better mall for their shopping. They really needed the upgrade in order to compete with the big malls located around Toronto. :D
